Chef biography

“I love this place,” says Chef Renzo Veronese. “I have a great kitchen, beautiful patio, wonderful guests – and a free hand in creating my own Italian specialties with the highest-quality, freshest ingredients.”

Born in Italy’s Veneto region, Executive Chef Renzo Veronese creates classic dishes influenced by his decades of training and work in Europe and the United States. He has cooked at restaurants in Italy, France, Switzerland and England; for the past thirty years he has lived in Northern California, working in San Francisco, Marin County and Napa Valley.

Happy to be in the heart of Sonoma County, Chef Renzo reflects on his home, the Veneto – a hilly, cool area in northern Italy where summer temperatures generally stay in the 70s. “The Veneto is an agricultural area, and people shop locally and eat what’s in season, as we do here.” In Sonoma Valley, he insists upon shopping at local farms and farmers’ markets where organic ingredients are fresh and abundant.

Chef Renzo is also the Maestro della Cucina at Hop Kiln Winery in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. There he partners his traditional cuisine with Hop Kiln and HK Generations wines.
